Margarita Madness & Other Cool Quilting Techniques!

A machine quilting class without a machine??  You betcha!  How many of us lament when we read the words “Quilt as Desired”?  This interactive lecture will take the agony out of trying to decide on a quilting design for your quilt top.  Using a unique technique to audition designs, attendees will draw and design along with Linda as she demonstrates numerous background, block, sashing and border designs.  This is Linda’s most requested presentation.

 

Do You Believe…I couldn’t thread a sewing machine

An inspirational journey of quilts from Linda’s 15 years of making quilts.  Linda brings several trunks of quilts which can be passed around as she discusses various techniques, short cuts and inspirations behind the quilts.  And no, she could NOT thread a sewing machine.

**This lecture is also available with Sarah and commentary between Linda and Sarah of how the two have learned together and fed off of each other.**

 

Stashbashers

Got scraps?  After listening to this inspirational lecture, you’ll be stitching them into stunning quilts in no time.  Linda discusses organizational techniques, color/value suggestions and shares tons of quilts and blocks – all made with scraps. 

 

Celtic Interlaces

After hearing a short history of Celtic knotwork designs, Linda shares a trunk show of how the knotwork can be incorporated into quilt designs.  She also reviews her unique technique for creating celtic knots with NO marking!

 

Fusing – Fast, Fun & Fabulous

Fused quilts are quite popular now.  Linda discusses the pros and cons of the various fusible products on the market, edge coverings, transferring designs, quilting, stabilizers and more!  Linda brings an extensive trunk show for you to pass around and enjoy.

 

Getting Down to Business

Linda shares her tips and experiences for getting yourself set up and organized in a long arm quilting business.  Customer service, dealing with mistakes, sub-contractors, wholesale purchases, storage, etc.

 

The Long and the Short of It

This PowerPoint presentation is a consumer education workshop.  Linda uses slides of actual quilts to demonstrate proper preparation of your quilts for the long arm quilting process.  The pictures depict the various construction difficulties long arm quilters encounter and tips are provided to help the quilter alleviate these problems enabling the long arm-er to return a better product to the customer.

Miniature Curved Piecing                                                         

5 hours – Confident beginner and beyond - Machine

No pins!  Yes, you heard right..no pins needed to make this curved pieced miniature quilt. 

Discover a different way to make templates or purchase acrylic templates from instructor (optional) and learn this no agonizing, no pin method of curved piecing.  Linda provides a handout containing a multitude of setting options and shares her unique method of auditioning quilting designs.  Students will complete a small quilt and are welcome to bring cotton batting and quilting thread to begin quilting their pieces.  Sample photo is one of numerous design possibilities.

*Half day workshop will permit students to make some blocks and explore quilting & design options.

 

Curved Piecing

5 hours – Confident beginner and beyond - Machine

A larger version (7” blocks) of the miniature workshop with additional instruction (and pattern) provided for creating blocks that are divided – thus providing more variation and texture to their designs.  Sample photo is one of numerous design possibilities.

*Half day workshop will permit students to make some blocks and explore quilting & design options.

 

New York Beauty                                                                                                                                             

5 hours – Intermediate and beyond - Machine

A unique construction method makes creating this block a piece of cake!  Linda provides a handout which contains many different layout options and she also shares her special way of auditioning quilting designs.  Paper piecing experience suggested.  Students will complete several blocks and be well on their way to a spectacular quilt!  Sample photo is one of numerous design possibilities.

*Half day workshop will permit students to make a block and explore quilting & design options.

 

QuiltSmart Lone Star

5 hours – Confident beginner and beyond - Machine

Linda will guide students in using the QuiltSmart interfacing panels to create a 25” square wall hanging.  She will also share her method of auditioning quilting designs for this quilt. 

*Half day workshop will permit students to complete approximately one half the project.

 

Margarita Madness

5 hours – Students should be familiar with free motion quilting

Quilt as Desired – Agonize No More!   Students will learn Linda’s unique method of auditioning quilting designs and then after a short discussion on batting, threads, needles, backings and marking methods, we’ll move on to putting designs to fabric!  We’ll be making stitch notebooks of backgrounds, blocks, sashings and border designs.

*Half day workshop is a condensed version of the full day workshop.

 

Celtic Interlaces

5 hours -  Beginners and beyond – Hand or Machine

You’ll be adding Celtic knotwork to quilts in no time with Linda’s unique construction method using Quick Bias or you can learn to make your own fusible bias!  There is NO marking of the background fabric.  Linda reviews several methods of making fusible bias tape as well as design possibilities not only for quilts, but for craft projects too!  This is a very popular workshop, especially in March!   Students should each have their own iron and pressing surface (or two can share).   In the full day workshop, students working with machines will complete all of most of their wall hanging. 

*Half day workshop allows students to create their knots – with the appliqué and top construction to be completed at home.
